Accesing wps files

When I attempt to open wps files (windows xp home) I have
saved to a disk, external hardrive, etc. to another
computer with same operating system or windows based
system I receive an error message " this file is currupt
or currnetly in use". Please help.

You are trying to open a text document file created in MS Works. First,
you need to have the same program installed on the computer where you
want to open the file. Second, you need to have the same or newer
version of the program installed; i.e., an older version of MS Works
probably can't open a file created in a newer version of Works.
Possibly that is the case? I'm assuming you are not trying to open a
file that is already open somewhere else locally or on a network.
