Word Documents with .wps extensions

Jim B.

I've got windows xp and when I save a "word" document,
such as my resume', it saves it with a .wps file
extension. I've tried saving it in the drop-down menu
under a MS 5.x (.doc) extension but it still attaches
the .wps to it. How do I save a file with .doc only.
The problem is that I send attached files to companies
and they can't open them b/c of the .wps extension (they
are also on Microsoft systems). This is an example of
what the file looks like when saved: sample.doc.wps
can anyone help on this??

Sincerely
Jimbo

Select everything in the document, copy it, and paste it into a new document
then save that as a .doc

You don't have Microsoft Word you have Microsoft Works. Works opens/saves
files with .wps extension.
When saving the file under file save as, see if under file types you can
change it to .doc. Works may not be able to do this. If it can't then you
need to create your documents in Word or wordpad. This way others with word
or wordpad can open it.
