Accepting javascript?

WinXP(SP2) IE 6.0.2900.2180

After applying SP2 I can no longer sign into my favorite (home) web page.
The web site states that cookies and javascript must both be enabled in
order for me to sign in. I've set the browser to accept cookies, but I'm
uncertain how to set it to accept javascript.

From the menubar, Tools > Internet Options > Security is set to enable
active scripting and to enable cripting of Java applets, but I find no
reference to 'javascript'.

Apparently I already had the browser set to accept javascript as follows:
Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level
Enable scripting of Java applets

The reason why the web site in question (excite.com) could not be signed
into was because the web site was listed in Tools > Internet Options >
Privacy > Sites as a 'Managed Web site' that was set as having its cookies
'Always Blocked'. Once I removed the web site from that list I was able to
sign into it. I already had the allowance of cookies set for Medium privacy,
but because the web site was on the blacklist it's cookie were still
unaccepted.

All is well now, since I removed the web site from IE's blacklist that would
not accept its cookies.

JavaScript and Java are *not* the same.

That's it. It says Active Scripting instead of just JavaScript because
there are other scripting languages which are allowed by it too.

Be aware that messages from a host application are often their
statement "something is wrong" given in terms of the *most likely*
thing that that might be. E.g. depending on how the error messages
in the application are structured it could be that this one represents
something entirely unrelated to both scripting and cookies.

If you a using a Favorite is it one for which the URL is simple
or complex? If the latter try visiting the site more directly.
The effect of doing that would refresh any Cookies and any
cached script files, either of which might be obsolete as a result
of bypassing the "front door" of the site with your Favorite.

Good luck
