accept MOD files (JVC EVERIO)

I'm having trouble finding a good video editing software that will accept MOD
files from JVC Everio Camcorder. I was wondering if Windows Movie Maker might
have any plans in the future to include the ability to import this files?

I have done a bit of work on the JVC Everio for a friend.
1. The files are actually mpeg2 format. We just renamed them to mpg and
they work with any mpeg converter (see papjohns site) or editor that
accepts mpeg (eg virtualdub and most others). Download the movies to the
hard drive and rename .mod to .mpg. There are lots of freeware renamers
that will allow you to do this in bulk.

Note PapaJohn: contrary to my last post my friend reminded me that the
camera IS mass storage compliant (ie when connected the camera appears
as another hard drive annd files can be viewed and copied via windows
explorer). The issue we had was the mod files as described above and we
were using the JVC software to convert .mod to avi until we realised
they were just mpegs)

I do that and I can play them in Media Player but I get no sound. Also they
still will not import in to Moviemaker in mpg format. I get "test.mpg could
not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from" error
any other sugguestions would be greatly appreicated......Thxs

Sorry, didnt finish my last.
I have actually asked the same question (prompted by my friends JVC.
I wouldnt hold my breath on the current version.
Papajohns results on his investigations of Vista are in an earlier post
- google it if you wish. Essentially the beta version does not support
mpeg2. Of course this does not mean the production version will not.

If you want to use MM2 you will need to convert to eg AVI format.
Papjohn has details of mpeg conversion to something for mm2 on his site
or try www.videohelp.com.

There are a number of products that will support mpeg2.
