WindowsXP is not DOS based but only a DOS emulator. Windows98
was DOS based. See if the application you are using has been updated
for use with XP or even Vista. You can try changing the Buffer size
and the number, either up or down.
Rightclick Command Prompt>Properties under AllPrograms>Accessories
Click the Options tab, there you can change the settings.
