Absolute Hyperlinks

I am trying to create an absolute hyperlink from within a Word XP document. Every time I insert the full path name in the Address line at the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, it continues to convert it to a relative hyperlink. I have read the information in the help about creating a hyperlink base, but this only helps me with the links that go to that specific base. I have files that go to multiple base directories.

In previous versions of Word there was a check box on the hyperlink box that allowed you to check to make it relative or absolute. This functionality doesn't seem to exist any more.

I also have the same problem in Word2003. Adding this post so I get notified of replies. Can somebody please help?

I also badly need a fix for this problem with WD2000 or WD2002. Please any
help greatly appreciated! Will gladly do some testing if there are some
suggestions.
