about "read only"

Hello,

I have changed the property of my a folder under my
document folder. Now every thing have become read only
and I can't write, save, save as, ......

I tried to change it, but it does not work, would you
please tell me what has gone wrong, or may be I am
missing some steps.

In what way did changing it not work? Did you receive any error, did it
accept the change, or did it simply not allow you to make the change at all?
