How can I get the standard Microsoft page to load when I
click on the Internet Explorer icon on my desktop, instead
of a blank screen, with about:blank in the browser address
line?

Thom;
Start IE/Tools/Internet Options/General tab
Use Current: Sets the Web page that you currently have open as the home page.
Use Default: Uses the home page that was set when Internet Explorer was first
installed.
Use Blank: Specifies that your home page will be a blank HTML page.
The home page is the page you see each time you start Internet Explorer. You can
return to it at any time by clicking the Home button on the toolbar.
***I use Blank. IE starts faster and i don't go to the same page every time
i open IE.
Pick one.

That's easy. Just go to ur desktop after booting. Right-
click the Internet Explorer icon and click properties in
the menu. In 'home page', clear the about:blank in the
address field and type any address that you want. This
page will load whenever you open internet explorer. You
can type http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.msn.com as
you prefer microsoft. Then click OK, and ur done.

This can also be done by going to Tools, then internet
options, then general from the internet explorer window.
Hope this will be enough help.

Or, if you like blue, you can use about:mozilla. Odd. :]
