NVIDIA is not supporting the NForce 2 chipset for Vista. That could be your
problem.

Well I downloaded the Vista drivers but still nothing UNTIL I tried
moving the connection! Seems I have sound but from one of the other
connections - there are 5 to choose from on this mobo!

Len

Probably not much of an idea but you have tried all the sockets on the
board for output, I had an Asus MB and one set of drivers had the output
and input sockets the wrong way around :)

Ha, so I was a bit late then, oh well, good luck with the rest of the
day experimenting what comes out and goes in where then :)

I have Vista Ultimate installed on two Asus A7N8X 2.0 Deluxe M/B. Works
fairly nice.

Sound is good using the drivers obtained from Windows Update on the first
boot into the desktop. I also had problems with the mini plug connector on
the rear of the M/B. A quick squirt of WD-40 on the plug, and about 5-6
insert/removal cycles solved the problem for me. The connectors become
oxidized and have to be cleaned, especially if the connectors have been
plugged in for a couple of years.

Gave up in the end as all I could get was very 'echoy' sound! Slapped
in an old PCI Soundblaster card and it installed and is working fine!

cheers,
