When my computer boots up i sometimes hear 3 beeps, and when the boot process
takes me to Desktop i try to click on 1 icon, but they all become
highlighted. If i click on the highlighted icons they all start up. I have to
manually restart the computer using the power button, because i cannot even
shut it down when it gets like this. After i reboot everything seems to be
okay. I have had this problem for 4 months now someone please help....

Go to your computer manufacturers web site and locate the BIOS beep
codes for your model. Just going from experience here and the little info
you've given, I would guess the BIOS has lost its capabilities to store your
hardware configuration and is having to rediscover all your hardware, most
likely due to a low or dead CMOS battery on the motherboard - hence the
problem doesn't happen when you reboot, as power is not removed from the
system.
So if you BIOS beep code mean low or dead CMOS battery, check on what
type and how to remove/install the battery. Once that is done (providing
the battery is the problem), it should happen only 1 more time and the
settings will be saved, at least until the time has come to replace it
again - they normally last 3-5 years, but I've had some that die within a
couple of months of getting the PC - most likely the battery already had an
expired shelf-life before it was installed, and the manufacturer installed
them anyway, instead of taking the loss and chucking them.

Thank you Admiral, i think this might be the issue, i say this because the
other two suggestions have been eliminated already. I will let you know what
happens.

Thank you Admiral, i think the CMOS battery might be the issue, i say this
only because all other suggestions have been researched. I will replace the
battery, and i will let you know if this worked. I have a little bit of
trouble finding my way through this forum, not very user friendly, Microsoft
LOL.
