A7V8X/fans

Hi folks

This is my HSF, which shows the maximum input current and power:

http://www.globalwinusa.com/products/cak488t.html

The manual that comes with the HSF says not to connect it to the motherboard
as it draws a high current.

The manual for the A7V8X motherboard, which I'm using, states "the fan
connectors support cooling fans of 350mA~740mA (8.88W max.) or a total of
1A~2.22A (26.64W max.) at +12V."

Does this mean that I CAN connect the HSF to the mobo?

What's the difference between PWR_FAN1 and CHA_FAN1? I know one is power and
the other is chassis - what's the power fan? The PSU? Can I connect two
chassis fans to the mobo?

Thanks

The problem is that the fan connectors on the mobo can burn out rather
easily. I haven't had that happen and it 'looks' like you should be able to
run the HSF of the CPU FAN connector given the supplied info. You can run
the fan off of a 4pin molex connector if you have any doubt. Just make sure
the connection is good and that the fan does, in fact, run when you start
your system.

The other connectors are form RPM monitoring only, I'm pretty sure (check
the manual). Even though they are labeled CHA and PWR you can plug whichever
fans into them.

Nice fan, btw.
