A7N8X-E Deluxe: Dimm slots and revision questions

I just received this mobo from Newegg and it is a revision 1.01
board--??? Shouldn't it be the latest revision--2.2 I believe?

Also--Dimm socket confusion. I see that this has been discussed in
many threads, but I'm still confused. Starting from the socket nearest
the CPU, on my board the sockets are labled A2, A1, B1. Is this
equivalent to A2=1, A1=2, and B1=3?

I assume a single module should go in A1, which is actually 2 in the
conventional sense. For dual channel, A1 and B1 should be filled--the
2 blue sockets, which are actually dimms sockets 2 and 3?

Asus' manual and website are gloriously unhelpful in this regard.
Thanks,
Dave

Slot 1 and 3 for Dual channel, or slot 2 and 3 for dual channel.
Slot1 and 2 are close together, then a space between slot 2 and slot 3.
2 and 3 are blue, 1 is black.
Ram in slot 1, or 1 and 2 for single channel.

Addendum:
This mobo sample does have Bios version 1008, which I understand
should support 400 mhz FSB. In any case, should I return this revision
1.01 board to Newegg? I've not yet installed it.

Thanks. That makes sense. Is it me or is the chart in the Asus manual
incredibly confusing?

Don't see why that one will not support 400MHz as it came out after the
A7N8X deluxe.

<<snip>>

I think the A7N8X-E Deluxe came after the A7N8X revisions, so
the revision numbers start over again. An A7N8X-E Rev 1.01
is more recent than an original A7N8X Rev x.xx.

That makes some sense since I do have 1008 bios on this board out of
the box. I've already OCed a 2500+ Barton to 3200+ by changing to 200
mhz in bios for 400mhz fsb operation, so at least that aspect of its
operation seems to be ok.
