Can't get "DIMM A1" or A2 to work on an A7N8X-E , B1 works ok.

When I put the same stick that worked in DIMM B1 into
DIMM A1 or DIMM A2 on boot the memory check stops
at 1042 (I think that's it) and hangs the sys. The DIMM B1
slot works with everything I've put in it, so far.

Any idea what might be at fault? or how to fix it? I'm going
to try clearing the CMOS next, but was wondering if there
might be something else, that I hadn't thought of.

Luck;

Maybe something is shorted to the "A" memory data bus.
Check for an extra brass standoff underneath the DIMM
section of the board.

On the other hand, your memory counter got to 1042. Are you
using 1GB memory DIMMs ? Maybe the Nforce2 wants to see (16)
64Mx8 chips and not some stacked configuration of chips ?

Post the part numbers and specs for the DIMMs you are
trying. Also, what version of BIOS you are running ?
Maybe someone else has tried the same experiment.

Paul
