a7a266 with athlon over 2 Ghz

Has anyone tried and tested a A7A266 Asus motherboard in combination with a
AMD Athlon CPU over 2 GHz?

I'm looking at the docs on the Asus web site but they only say that there is
a Socket A for AMD® AthlonT / DuronT 550MHz ~ 1GHz+ CPU. So wondering if it
could go higher...

I have a revision 1.04 mobo with BIOS 1012 and an XP2400+ chip dropped in
that is running overclocked at 2076MHz.....I have had it up to 2200MHz but
was concerned about the heat and stability. Either way, it is a far cry
from the 1200MHz Thunderbird I was running.

Cheers,

well, that sounds like good news. I am thinking about buying a 2.4 or 2.6
Ghz Athlon processor to make an upgrade on my actual motherboard. To what i
understand, i will not be able to get the full performance of what the chip
can deliver, because of the motherboard. I'm a little in confusion: this
mean that buying a more recent motherboard and installing the same cpu, will
get get a more accurate speed?

I have looked at the specs on the Athlon web site for the XP2400 and XP2600
but i don't see the Asus A7A266 in the list. Anyway, computer prices are so
low these times that i consider buying a new package.

Thanks
