A4 report size

I have designed some A4 reports but am a bit puzzled by the sizing. If A4 is
set to landscape for a report, you would presume the page to be about 11.5
(approx) inches wide. Allowing a margin of one inch you should be able to
have text boxes etc up to the 10.5 inch mark. However, if I go beyond 9.5
inches, then access starts telling me that the section is wider than the
page, bla bla bla. It then leaves pages in the report blank or starts
splitting items over the page. WHY???!

Colin,

Do you have a 1 inch margin both sides?
