Rabbit,

Go to your search bar and type "hostfile". You will then have an
understanding of what the host file is and what it does.
Generally, you will have either no entries in your hostfile or you will
have two entries which are your network and loopback address.
Are you using any third party software that monitors and adds entries
to your host file? If so you should be able to turn off this feature.
