I've been workin some days with a Windows Xp Pro PC, and yesterday it's send
me a message from Microsoft to take from safety.live.com an scan because it
seems to have a virus (Apropos.B), i've made it but this morning the machine
doesn't works and I am not able to do anything neither recovery the system
and install a new solution because it saids that it's not able to recognice
the partition.
My antivirus it's at the system I am not able to get.

So you Know how can I get it working?

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

microsoft.public.security.virus
alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus

Don't use the Microsoft web based AV system ! Simply put it is a Beta and it sucks !

I am having troubles understanding this post.

What do you mena by "...but this morning the machine doesn't works and I am not able to do
anything..."

Does the PC boot ?

Please provide details of the problems you are having.

Thanks David

The problem now it's that the machine desn't boot at the beguining of the
system boot with Windows XP on the display it's automaticaly switch off the
machine, if i can get more with F8 abd saying not to retsrat with a problem,
it said with and 07D error sayind that it seems have a virus problem, so I am
not able to get to somewhere to run anything only the recovery console that
it's not able to get to the files on the disk.

Hi David,

I have looked at the nformation you've sent to me but the question is that
it's no possible to run on a place that software it doesn't boot.

I want to try with the xp CD I can try to install a new one (but saids that
it's not able to get to the partition so i have to format it) I have info on
it I want to get, or the recovery (r) console.

Thanks

you may have to use the repair console and run FIXBOOT but if that
dosn't work u can write a new master boot record but it can damage ur
partition if u have enough space on ur HDD u could try putting a new
partition on it and installing windows on that that way it will boot up
and u might be able to recover files from the old (virused) partition
but dont know how u'd stop the virus entering the new installation of
windows

You must mean the URLs in my signature. I asked questions, I didn't "send you information".

Can you boot into Safe Mode ?

Its a good idea but I have no more partition withouth information, so perhaps
to get another disk an trying to put my own as the second one, perhaps if
tehre it's no other ideo to solve.

Hi David,

The only I can do it's to get to the boot menus (but in all of them it
crashes and reboots) or with the Windows XP CD I can get to the recovery
console (but not able to get to c: files) it doesn't work fixboot and fixmbr
and if I get to install a new Windows XP and checks disks, if I select the
particition disk it saids that It can't work with it so I have to format it
(exactly to make a new partition).

So I have no console (only Recovery console) and no way to get the disk
information (perhaps with a new disk)

i had the same problem and ended up formatting my hard drive and buying
a new 1 if i had bin patient and bought the new 1 i might have been
able to do what ur trying to do (run windows of another disk and see if
u can connect old disk and pull files off it. now iv got 2 40Gb maxtor
IDE disks 1 as a backup with a second installation of windows on but i
dnt know how to go about configuring them in RAID. so u cant put
another partition on the unpartitioned sapce?

Using the WinXP CDROM, boot from it a perform a "Repair Installation"

Note that if it works, you will have to install WinXP SP2 ASAP !

Hi everyone

I have been proving to many things and the new way cames.

I've taken a Windows XP with service pack 2 cd to try to see the disks and I
am able to get to the disks (my disk is 200 Gb) and the Windows XP cd only
it's not able to get that disks.

I've tried to install by the recoveris solutions without any solution on it,
the recovery concole lets me doing things like boor, check disk and all of
them but it's still not working.

As the cd try to look for installed versions it saids that it's not able to
see them or to install on that disks because the partition its a dinamic disk.

So I tried with a Windows 2003 server cd and I can get now to the files on
the disk, but I still not able to get the PC with the initial Windows XP
solution or I have to format the disks to install a new Windows XP one (or
try with Windows 2003 to work).

So if you have any idea on working to recovery with Dinamic disk please tell
me.

Thanks
