a user logs in and get greeted with explorer can not initialize or something
like that right after entering password.
after the msg window is closed,, eventually the usual xp desktop scenery
shows up minus taskbar, and desktop icons. the windows starts a lot of disk
activity and nothing responds. The only thing, one can do is fit the front
power button to shut down

other users on the computer does not have this problem

virus scan has been done, start up programs and run runonce has been
checked OK.

what gives? how to fix the ID? The was corruption to the windows directory
before but that is fixed

While this should always be a last resort, it sounds like you have a corrupt
profile and you may need to recreate it.
Right click on 'My Computer', select properties, advanced tab, click the
'settings' under 'User Profiles'.
Select the profile having problems and remove it.

You might want to first copy the profile folder somewhere else so that you
can recover the 'Favorites', and the 'My Documents' folders. All other user
settings will be lost like mail profiles, desktop settings, etc. That is
why recreating a profile should always ALWAYS be a last resort.

thx.

Actually I found out all non admin power user have the same problem. only
administrators don't have this problem.

Could it be some access problem in some parts of C:\Windows or c:\Program
Files?

are there anything in all user controlling windows explorer?
