A simple DVD drag drop driver?

Hello,

Is there a simple program/driver that would allow copying files to DVD's
just like copying them to HD/CD directories? Or one has to use NERo/ROXIO
like multimegabyte program to do it? Why doesn't the OS allow this?

The original concept and release of XP came out before DVDs were
popular. Also, there does not seem the be a standard. Nero's InCD
does not appear to read Roxio's Drag to CD (DirectCD) and vice versa.
Not only this but XP does not write to DVDs without either. Most DVD
writers are delivered with an OEM version of some "name brand" software
writing tools that also provide a "packet writing" feature.

Note: Xp is supposed to be able to write to DVD-RAM media directly
(but I have yet to get any of these medias.)

XP has no in built ability to burn DVDs. You'll need 3rd party software. I
use Roxio EMC 7.5 - Version 9 is the latest. Of course there are others to
suite your taste. Google for it.
