I have a client that brought her Win2K machine over to be
defragged, cleaned, the whole shootin gallery, then wants
me to install a new modem and NVIDIA GeForce. Herein lies
the problem.

I asked her what the Administrator password was and she
informs me "I don't remember what it is, I've never used
one". I say OK, boot the computer, and it's asking me for
one. Grrrrrrr.

Is there a way to reset or a workaround for this Win2K
Password? If no, I'm gonna have to tell this lady to
remember her password before I can fix it.

Thanks all.

1. login with her account and see if she has admin access, then reset the
admin password from there or just use her account.
2. search this newsgroup for 'lost admin password' or similar phrases, there
is usually an answer or two a week about how to crack the passwords with
links to tools to do it.

I had a similar problem with my friend machine he yold me
he didn't do anything to the account, but as usual they
always do in one form or another, he actually change the
name of administrator to something else and either he
forgot or he just refuse to admit that he messed with the
account to make along story short i came accross this neat
little utility on the web that will deispaly the account
name and password is linux based and you have to boot from
boot the machine with the floppy disk in, just one problem
i cant remember the url and i forgot to marked under
favorites but if you wouldlike to give it a try email and
i will send it to you (fits on one floppy)
(e-mail address removed)
good luck...
