A sad day for me - Uninstalling Vista

That's fair enough. For myself, WinXP (or even 2000 in fact) does everything
I need as quickly as I need, so I see no advantage changing to a relatively
untested (no disrespect to the Beta Testers et al) operating system that
I've heard several cautionary tales about...

Nvidia drivers do work but not as well as they should.. one can only hope
that Nvidia pull something meaningful out of their hat soon..

I came across three CDs that would not rip from my XP machine.

No utility I could find would rip them. These where my findings:

WinXP Gold - Ripped fine
WinXP SP1 - Wouldn't rip at all
WinXP SP2 - Wouldn't rip at all

When you tried to use any of the utilities, the app would think it finished,
but the resulting files were 0kb.

So I guess XP Gold is all you really need but I keep a 98 machine around for
other reasons.

You bring up a good point.

Basically what it boils down to is everyone needs to shut up about Vista,
wait for drivers then read the NEW reviews.

Most OPINIONS are based on beta. Either beta OS or beta drivers and it's
all nonsense.

I agree, but there are a few major bugs still lurking in the Vista RTM
build, guess MS will fix those in the next few weeks

Yup, there sure are. I remember when vista was turning the Beta 2 corner.
There where some odd 2,000 known bugs and the goal set at the time was to
get Vista down to 500 known bugs for RTM.

I realize this was an old discussion thread and what me being new to all of
this I thought a fresh observation is in order. True, VISTA seems to be a lot
of smoke and mirrors and far beneath that of XP. That being said I qualify
myself as a user first hand the 1st week of release of both platforms. Both
have greatness in their own right. Now if we can only get tem to mate and
develope VISTAXP!
Scott
