A question with two computers share files throug line

There are two computers with windows xp os,I use a line(568a&568a) to connect
them direct. One is in a workgroup(home pc),another is in a domain(company
pc),but I login to this comput with this computer's admin account,not in a
intranet environment.
I wonder how they can share files through line,now I set same ip range and
mask,but can not ping successfully.
If it is necessary that one computer exit domain and add the workgroup,thanks.

you need a "crossover"cable not straight thru
