A question on video

Basically I have Windows 2000 on a laptop I use for work. The problem is that
I had to connect it to an external monitor. Since then the video settings are
a bit screwed. Right now it's normal viewing as I go on AOL for example, the
usual operating system. The times I notice the distortion is at boot-up and
whenever I play any type of games.

So I restart the laptop. At the usual sequence it's supposed to fill the entire
screen. Instead there's a two inch border and the screen is reduced. The
same thing happens when I play games, it's squished.

I've tried going through all the video settings I can find, even tried
uninstalling
and reinstalling the drivers. Any ideas? Thanks.

Of course you can disagree, but if you've got it, flaunt it. If you don't have
it,
kneecap those who do.

me.

On my IBM laptop, if I right-click on the Desktop, select Properties, I see some tabs for the Monitor. Going to Settings, Advanced, I see some settings for the laptop screen and also for CRT and TV.

Do you have this? It may only be available if you have the correct drivers for the laptop and the laptop screen type.

Hope this helps.

On my IBM laptop, if I right-click on the Desktop, select Properties, I

There was a section on the "Monitor" tab that is supposed to allow me to
choose between Default monitor, Digital Flat Panel, or Generic Television.
It insists on seleting Generic Television no matter what I do.
Do you have this? It may only be available if you have the correct
drivers for the laptop and the laptop screen type.

That is the question, bothers the heck out of me, I didn't change the
drivers yet it insists on doing this.
Hope this helps.

Me too.

Of course you can disagree, but you need to steer into the skid.

Try re-installing the driver. In think you can do this with "Update driver" and then use the same one again.
