First thing is to double check that your microphone is not muted. Open
volume control (ricght click on the taskbar icon and choose "Open Volume
Control" or just double click on it.
If Microphone is not visible among the individual volume controls, use
Options/Properties and put a check mark by Microphone. Once it's visible,
make sure the Mute box for it is not checked, and that the volume slider is
at an appropriate level.
If that doesn't fix it, double check that you plugged the mike into the
correct jack on the sound card.
