A problem with the hard drive has been detected, please
refer to the product manual for more information. Press
Enter to continue.

I get the above error every time I start my computer which
is running Windows XP Pro. If I press Enter my computer
starts normally with no noticeable problems.

Any suggestions?

get and read the manual. you could be having mechanical errors on the
drive. Believe me, if you don't want a bogus drive, then try getting it
fixed.

Go to the website for the manufacturer of the hard drive and download
their drive diagnostic utiility. Usually you will need to copy the
files to a floppy disk, then boot with it. Run the diagnostics on it to
see if it was failing.

And most important....back up your data NOW. If the drive goes you
could loose it all.
