I played with passwords, and now when I login to XP home edition, I
get a request to login for Administrator first. I don't even have such
account. I have Mark (administrator) and guest (which is off). When I
type Mark instead of Administrator, I can login. I unchecked Use the
Welcome Screen so I shouldn't even have that. Please help.

When I control userpasswords2, I can see Administrator user name, in
addition to Mark (also administrator). I am able to change the
password to Administrator, but when I login, the system doesn't take
it. Can I delete the Administrator?

No, you should not try and it's very hard to do anyway. Keep the built in
Administrator account as a fall back in case something happens to the other
admin level account. Assign it a strong password, record that somewhere,
and leave it be. For XP Home the only way to login to the built in
Administrator account is through safe mode. It will then appear on the
Welcome screen.
