Hello, got a weird problem...
Basically, programs just stop launching, although the desktop seems to be
behaving normally (i.e., start menu pops up, and folders open up). When i
try to launch a program, the hourglass appears briefly, and then disappears
as if nothing happened.
I then try to restart or shutdown (through the normal start menu>turn off
computer option), and it brings up the dialogue box, and then i hit
"restart", or "shutdown"... again, the hourglass comes up for a second and
then goes back to normal as if nothing happened. I am still in the same
position as before. additionally, CTL-ALT-DEL fails to bring up the task
manager.
the only way to restart at this point, is to hit the reset button!
any ideas on why this has happened? it only does this occasionally, and
there are really no other problems. Thanks.
