"Fair use is not merely a nice concept--it is a federal law based on
free speech rights under the First Amendment and is a cornerstone of the
creativity and innovation that is a hallmark of this country. Consumer
rights in the digital age are not frivolous."
- Maura Corbett
It is good that this might happen, but what took ms so long to react?
The hue and cry by customers about the issue has been there from the
beginning. Also unsettling has been the almost constant argument by many
supporters that the process really affected very few people, and that
many of the complainers were obvious thieves or other less complimentary
descriptive names, even when shown that the affect extended to a far
larger (and innocent) range of users. Does that line of thought now just
disappear into the ether as though it never happened?
