I turned the User Account Control feature off in my copy of Windows Vista
Business. I can see why Microsoft implemented this, but as an experienced
computer user, I find it more annoying than actually helpful...especially
since it happens around almost every system settings corner in the UI. As an
example, it is beyond me as to just why I should have to grant permission to
simply see the Device Manager...when changing settings in there I could see
reason for requiring confirmation that you really wish to do so.
So I turned it off. Of course, Windows now tells me that I had really better
consider turning UAC on, and it leaves an icon in the system tray to
complain about this.
I would like to get rid of that icon? Short of turning on UAC (which I don't
intend to do), can this be done?
