A little help running an old dos game

I'm trying to get a game to run called Gender Wars. It was made way back in
96 and is a dos game.

I can configure the sound properly using the port numbers and such that
windows XP uses to emulate soundblaster, and installation goes well, but I
have problems when trying to run the game. You see it doesn't recognise the
CD is in the drive. I have tried changing the drive letter (seeing as it
wasn't D) and even messed with the compatability settings, but with no
success, it just doesn't think its there (I have the same problem with GTA).
Is there a way to make it recognise the CD is there?

Also it says I don't have a supported SVGA card, which is obvious seeing as
it was made in 96, but is there a way of fooling it into thinking I have?

I have tried opening it with DosBox, but I still get the CD problem.

Hi Necunoscut,

Since you're reassigned D: to your CD ROM drive,
try reinstalling the game from scratch in order to update
it's configuration and ini files so they point to the D: drive.
