That seems odd. What are you doing on your machine? I've got a Zalman 7000
cooler on mine, and it's running at about 38 degrees at idle, and just under
50 degrees at the highest. The MB temp is usually between 30 and 35. This
is on a P4 2.4B processor, with no overclocking.
If I don't have proper ducting on the cooler, it will easily add another 5
or more degrees to the CPU temp. I ended up rigging up a fan that blows
room temperature air directly into the middle of the HS. But that's because
I stuck my computer into a desk drawer, and there is no other real
ventilation.
Clint
I use that machine for storage, internet, email, a game every now and
then. Most of my CPU intensive stuff is done on my other machine. I
do have the two computers side by side with a good four inches between
them and a good two inches on the sides. I have ruled out my second
machine as the main factor of heat, simply by not using it. I know
running them at the same time, some heat is getting into each of them,
but like I said before, I have plenty of fans. Plus I think I would
see higher MB temps. I do have the United Devices program running in
the background, but I have stopped using that for a couple of days and
still no difference. A friend suggested stepping down the voltage of
the CPU, but my BIOS will only let me increase the voltage. The CPU
is running at the rated 1.7v.
Thank you for your continued help Clint.
