Need a little help

While trying to access a folder on one of my drives, I get the error:

"The semaphore timeout has expired."

I ran Norton Disk Doctor thinking it was a problem with the drive, and
come to find out the NTFS boot sector was bad. Fixed that and I am
still getting the same error. Now I can get into the folder (after a
while), and my data is there but some of it shows up as accessible and
some of it is not. The folders show up and I can access some but not
others. I've Googled the error message and all I can come up with is
problems related to DCHP, SLQ servers, etc. My router/firewall has the
latest firmware and I am not running a SLQ database. I'm not sure if
there is something I have missed or should try.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for your reply Will. Sorry for the delay in answering. I
tried the link and it was pretty much what I found through my own
searching. I spent a good part of the day yesterday trying to get into
the drive. When I finially did, I tried moving what I could to another
drive. That didn't get very far. So I ended up searching for data
recovery tools. Found a good one and downloaded the demo. I reformated
the drive and ran the recovery tool on it and it retrieved nearly all
the data. Thank you for taking the time to help.
