A folder opens on log in

Got a new computer with Windows XP Professional. After setting up the basics, everytime I log in a folder (C:/Windows/System32) opens and stays on the desktop until I manually close it. Saw the other questions about an "Explorer" window opening, but since this is a Windows/System32 folder opening, didn't know whether something else should be done to handle this.
