A file that is required to run search companion cannot be found

After building my runtime image successfully and deploy it to the target
machine I get the following error when I click “Searchâ€.

“A File that is required to run search companion cannot be foundâ€
My runtime image has the following search components.

Search Tools
Search Assistant User Interface

What components do I need to add to my runtime image to fix the problem?
“A File that is required to run search companion cannot be foundâ€

Thanks in advance,

Manny

Dear Bing Chen,

Thank you for the fast response.
I added all the components that you mention but couldn't find the
following component. I am running XP embedded sp2.

2. Search Assistant English Language Support

I decided to build the "run-time" without that component, deployed the
"run-time" and the same thing happen.
Error: " A file that is required to run search companion cannot be
found"

I found the work around, to fix it after the FBA runs, but I'm not to
crazy about that.

Workaround:>>To resolve this problem:
1. Use Windows Explorer to browse to the %systemroot%\inf folder.
2. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file and press Install.
3. If you are prompted for the location of msgr3en.dll and your
computer came with Windows XP preinstalled, it is
likely to be at C:\Windows\i386. Type C:\Windows\i386 into the Copy
Files From dialog and press OK<<

Question:After making all my changes and fix all the problems I'm thinking
about using Drive image or Ghost to clone
the final product (running on sata HDD with EWF enabled). Do you know of a
better way to clone the final Runtime?

Thank you again for your fast response,
Manny

Found the missing component, had to change the visibility level in TD.
Tools-->Options-->Advanced and change Minimum visibility field
value under Component Visibility group.

Thank you again Bing Chen,

Dear Manny,

I am glad to help you solve problems.

For the Question:After making all my changes and fix all the problems
I'm thinking about using Drive image or Ghost to clone the final product
(running on sata HDD with EWF enabled). Do you know of a better way to clone
the final Runtime?

You have some ways to achieve the goal of cloning the final image.
1. Ghost
2. Creating an Embedded Recovery CD by Using Windows PE and SDI
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/e...tingEmbeddedRecoveryCDByUsingWindowsPESDI.asp

PS. Please run reseal the SID and disable EWF before mass production.

Dear Bing Chen,

Thank you so much for all your help.

I 'm planing on to use Ghost to mass reproduce my final product since I
'm familiar with it, but I will look into option #2 sugested by you.
Creating an Embedded Recovery CD by using Windows PE and SDI sounds
really good to me and I do like the idea of having a recovery cd to
Ship with the final product.

At the moment I am waiting for the OEM agreement to get approved by
Microsoft.

One more question Where can i get PE so i can start researching option
2.

Thank you so much ,

Manny

Dear Manny,

You are able to find Windows PE in the CD of Windows Embedded Studio
packages (XPE Tools).
