A few problems with XP Pro and Home

Anyone got any ideas on these? Please.

When I open a new window it always opens in a tiny window that I have
to maximise to read. More a nuisance, but I have tried a real lot of
things to have it just open in a normal window. This is the pro
version with all upgrades.

I have about 5 CDs full of high resolution images. I need to convert
these to lower resolution to enable me to send samples to people who
- might otherwise rip them off. The are all JPG at 600 bpi. To do
it manually would take years. ???

My daughter's PC with XP home, just stops. No blue screen, no messages
and it then reloads. Is there any where that it tells you what has
happened?

Is there any limit to the size of the pst files on outlook 2000. When
I have opened a lot of items it starts to hang on web addresses with
the correct address in the address panel but with an IP address in the
task bar, and a progress bar which never gets there. A reload makes it
OK for a while. Also when it needs a reload it does not download any
mail, even though it says it is doing it and then immediately that it
has done, but nothing is downloaded, this is from two different mail
services, where mail items are definitely waiting. The pst file is
about two Gbs.

Anyone got any hints?

Regards George.

Hello,

When you mean new window, do you mean a new IE window? If so, close all IE
windows except for one, maximize the last window and close it. When you
start IE again, it should remember the last size and position.

To convert all images to a lower 600 dpi, what you are looking for is a
batch image processing software. Irfanview ( http://www.irfanview.com/ ),
free, is a popular one. More free choices can be found here -
http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-digital-image-viewer.htm - check
that they come with batch processing capabilities.

Your daughter's PC - if it is restarting without any notice, you will need
to disable the Automatic Restart in normal mode. Here's how:

Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced > (Startup and Recovery) Settings
UNCHECK 'automatically restart' > OK > OK

Now you should get the proper blue screen. Post back the information
reported there and we can assist you better

Outlook 2000 and 2002 have a 2GB limit for a PST file. You have hit the
limit and should quickly create another Outlook data file and move mails to
there.
