A Drive not listed

I purchased XP for my home computer some time ago. After I
installed it the "A Drive" does not show up. I have to
unistall it then reinstall it each time I want to use it.
It disappears each time I shut down the computer. I can't
find any driver updates on-line. Any ideas?
