"A data file did not close properly" when Outlook opened

well............

first off I am running vista clean install, office 2007 clean install,
Imported PST from 2003 the usual way, data files>add..... when I open outlook
I get the error message at the bottom systray stating a data file did not
close properly, then I get in the main outlook window the "outlook has
stopped working" message and outlook closes, I have uninstalled and even
recreated the entire profile and still the same error message, I have
rebooted at every stage of the process just to be on the safe side.

The "usual way?" You should never import data into a PST file. Your problem
is a corrupt PST file. No way would reinstalling or creating a new profile
help that. If you cannot repair it with the Inbox Repair Tool, restore it
from backup.
