A couple of related (?) problems

O'2000 SR1

a) Shortcuts that are embedded in the messages (coloured blue) when clicked,
don't now open IE to that page but instead now opens an open file dialog
titled 'Locate Link Browser' & is searching for .exe files.

b) Some of my shortcuts that point to web sites/streaming videos etc. have
lost there connections giving the error:
'This file does not have a program associated with it. Create one etc..'
Unfortunately, the http addresses are all different so I'm not sure what
program to set them to.

Any ideas how to solve these problems?

So, browse to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplorer.exe" and click
"Open".

Depend on the file the shortcut represents.
