2.8C INTEL, ETC,ETC, ETC. GOT SO EXCITED I INSTALLED
SEVERAL COMPONENTS BEFORE I FIRED IT UP....
RESULT WAS, I HAVE A PRIMARY 160 GIG DRIVE WITH THE DRIVE
LTR OF "H"
I HAVE MY CDROM LETTERED PROPERLY..."E" SINCE I HAVE A
120 HD FOR MY SECONDARY.....
I TRIED TO REINSTALL EXPEE, AS A NEW INSTALL BUT IT GET
SO FAR AND SAYS THAT "MY -H- DRIVE CONTAINS TEMP FILES
THAT IT CANNOT DELETE BECAUSE THEY ARE NEEDED FOR THE
INSTALLATION. "CATCH 22!"
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I'm assuming you're aiming for:

160 GB primary, single volume C:

120 GB secondary, single volume D:

CD-ROM, E:

I'm also assuming that the 160GB drive does not contain important data.

If so, just disconnect the 120 GB drive, then install to the 160GB drive.
If Windows Setup looks like it's going to inherit the previous H: setting
(you should see this when Setup shows you the volume list), just delete the
volume and reformat it

After Windows is successfully installed, open Disk Management (My Computer,
Manage, or "diskmgmt.msc" at a Run or Command prompt), reassign the CD-ROM
to E:, shut down and reconnect the 120 GB drive, reboot, open Disk
Management to verify it was assigned as D: If not, you should be able to
reassign it as D: You can also reformat it if necessary.

Only "Gotcha" of this method that I can think of, is that if Windows needs
files from the Windows CD in the future, it will look for them at D:
instead of E:. If necessary, you can search the Registry for references to
D: and change them as appropriate.

Hi,

If you have a zip drive attached, remove it. Then boot the WinXP CD, remove
existing partitions. Then create new ones and reinstall.
