_vti_cnf folders appearing in Query Index Server Catalog

I cannot understand why for my Fasset Web Site, the _vti_cnf folders appear
in the results for the Query the Catalog ( Index Server function).
It may appear that this is the wrong newsgroup, but I have looked at the
permissions for the various _vti_cnf folders in my site and they do not
appear to be correct.
I say this because the Include Fast Indexing box is ticked when I look using
explorer?
On my development site the folders appear to be correctly set .
I have tried recalculating hyperlinks , to no avail.

I have locked the security down on the Fasset web site to stop anonymous
users from accessing the site. Part of the strategy for controlling access to
the subweb.
Apart from Administrators and our own Groups, the only other users are
System and OWS.

What am I missing here? How do I get frontpage with server extensions to
apply the correct permissions to the folders so that they will not appear
when I write my page with the webbot search component?
Thanks

Querying the Catalogue and running the search page on the website are
two different things. The search page includes a script that excludes
files and folders - including _vti_inf.html, _vti* folders, _derived
folders. Directly querying the catalogue does not invoke this script.
You need to reconfigure the catalogue to exclude these folders if you
intend to use the direct catalogue query, rather than the FrontPage
search form.
