98 on first partition, XP on second......

I installed WIN98 from my original CDs to first partition
of a new hard drive, and installed XP Pro in second partition.
My first question of the moment is, is it safe for me to install
Windows Update 98 SP1 onto that first partition? Can I just boot
to that first partition, insert the SP1 CD, and let it do its thing?
Will it disturb the partitioning in any way, or the XP?

yup, it's safe to install the SP1 for 98 on the first
partition. anything you do on that partition shouldn't
affect the xp partition...
