9700 PRO wont install?

I just got it from newegg.com
I have an MSI KT4V with latest BIOS
VIA Hyperon 4.51 Chipset drivers
WinXP Home (updated)

There was a BFG Asylum FX5200 (nvidia) in the system.
I uninstalled the drivers, then rebooted to see it set to vga.
Then I shut down and took out the FX and installed the ATI card. Hooked up
the power cable to it. And when I
restart my PC it just beeps twice real fast then it beeps 8 times and my
monitor says no signal from the video card.
I also have another PC running Win98SE with a GeForce2. I also tried to
install it in that machine but it is just a blank screen. Anyone know?
Please.
Thank you

I bought one of the Powercolor 9700PRO cards from Newegg after Christmas, and ended up having to
RMA it back due to it having the *exact* same problem as yours is having: it wouldn't even boot
into BIOS. The one they shipped back is working great.

Send it back and get a replacement.

fook me

I get this at times - I believe it to be a power issue.

Mine wouldnt start at all with an exhaust fan in the system.

So I took that our and now it only happens every 3 or times but I just press
reset and it starts.

The startup power needed by the 9700 means that any other parts (hard drive
for instance or exhaust fan) which also require a lot of power to start mean
that somethimes the power distribution doesnt happen correctly.

Or do I also have a problem card ??????

It does work just sometimes gives me the beeps.

I have a 550W PSU.

Sounds like you might have a dead or dying 550W PSU.

The PSU is brand new.

I bought it for my 9700 less than a month ago.

Doesn't mean that it's working properly. I've gotten more than one
defective power supply.

Wow no kidding! its going back then. Yup if I press the reset button I can
get it run and it runs great when it does. but it has crashed so far during
3 games I have tried. so back it goes.
