Hi,
I am going on my 9nth hour of trying to get IIS working on Windows XP
Professional service pack 2. This is an upgrade to Win XP home, and
there is quite a lot of weird stuff about it:
1. A lot of services that are marked as being automatic startups do not
start automatically, I need to start them manually for some reason -
for example I have to start DNS manually. I had to start the Event
service automatically.
2. I installed IIS and all included components, however when I look
inside IIS mmc snap-in there is nothing under the Internet Information
Services icon.
3. Can this be anything to do with Windows Genuine Advantage
activation, since I have not activated yet?
4. The reason why I have not activated yet is that when I click the
activate windows icon in my taskbar a window pops up but unfortunately
there is nothing inside this window. So that is somewhat annoying.
5. I keep getting this event The COM+ Event System attempted to fire
the EventObjectChange::ChangedSubscription event but received a bad
return code. HRESULT was 80040201.
6. When I try to restart IIS I get the following message:
