9.08 to 9.13 Should I upgrade?

John Cocktosen

I just purchased an ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0 and installed the 9.08 drivers
that came on the CD. Everything from TV on Demand to the PVR to timed
recording to the Guide+ all work perfectly.

So, is there any benefit (as in "important new features") in upgrading
to the 9.13 drivers on ATI's site?

I hate to mess with something when it works perfectly, but I do want to
upgrade if I'm missing something important!

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks...

I've had my HDTV Wonder since November 04 and have been through several
software versions. It wastes time and is annoying. If everything is
working well, count your lucky stars and enjoy it. BTW, I'm also
running 9.08.

AFAIK the benefits of 9.13 are support for Theater550 chip, improvements for
the HDTV Wonder especially in conjunction with an AIW and possibly
improvements/fixes for newer AIWs. Seems like everyone is having problems
with 9.13. Unless you know their is an improvement for you stick with 9.08.
BTW 9.13 doesn't allow you to turn off TVoD.

I'm on 9.08 and am unable to perform any video capture, suspect due to TVoD.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled, no luck. Does anyone know how to turn off
TVoD in 9.08?? I've got several VHS I want to transfer to DVD and this is
holding me back...

TVoD can be turned on and off with 9.08 on my system. I ignored the warning
boxes and capture works fine Actually have them checked to not display now.
If you can't you should uninstall all ATI drivers/ware and use the
CatUninstaller before reinstalling. You may not have gotten rid of all of
9.13. For details see ati.com\install. Even shows how to manually clean the
registry.
I also went back to the Cat 5.7 WDM drivers. Since your card is newer card,
you may want to use a newer pre-Unified driver version. 6.2 was the last
IIRC. In case 9.08 and the Unified driver aren't compatible.
