8mm Video camera question

I have an 8mm video camera that i would like to use to bring video into my
computer with Movie Maker. The videocamera does not have a USB connection so
i dont know how to connect it to my computer if its at all possible in the
first place. I also have a laptop computer HP pavilion 5250 Pentium 3.

I may be getting a new computer in the next couple of months but i want to
know if i can capture the video with what i have right now.

The footage is of my dad from about 6 years ago before he passed away and i
want to put it into a format that will last for years to come before the tape
deteriorates. That way it will with us for years to come to remember him.

Also my camera is in storage so i dont have the model and numbers etc but i
can get them if it would help to answer my question.

8mm cameras have analogue outputs and the easiest way to get it on to your
pc is with a digiatal analogue convertor, either an external box or internal
card.
see www.simplydv.com and look at the reviews section. Links to manufacturers
are also on each review.
