8050800c error

I'm also getting the 0x8050800c unexpected problem error when I run a scan.
I'm running
Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1347.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1481.0
Definition Version: 1.14.1518.10

When I first installed it I got the error and ran the disk defragmenter. and
after that I was able to run a successful scan. Now the error is back (two
weeks later); I don't want to defragment my disk each time I want to do a
scan. Any suggestions?
