Hi,
I have a 64bit processor machine with some programs installed that are also
64 bit programs. What version of Windows should I have installed if it is
going to be XP Pro? 32bit or 64bit and why?
thanks
Lenny

64-bit. Because you can't run 64-bit programs except with a 64-bit
processor, and under a 64-bit operating system.

What Windows are these programs installed under now? If it's 32-bit Windows
and the programs run, then they must not be truly 64-but, but have the
capability to run under either.

What programs are these?

Do you want to run the 64bit apps ?? If so, you need to have the 64bit
version installed.

But of course I also have Office and many other programs installed too.

The current release version of Office is a 32-bit Application. It will run
in a 32-bit Windows OS normally, as it should, and will run in a 64-bit OS
with WOW (Windows On Windows), similar to the NTVDM used to run 16-bit
applications on 32-bit NT OS, such as XP.
