Hello All,

If you are having trouble downloading pre-RC1 here are some things that you
can do to get it to download.

1. Clear all cookies, temporary internet files
2. Run disk cleanup to clear all temporary folders
3. Try downloading without the download manager (it goes slower..I know..but
at least you will have pre-RC1)
4. If you want to use a download manager I recommend Free Download Manager
(http://www.freedownloadmanager.org)

Again the download link is http://download.windowsvista.com/preview/prerc1/en/download.html

If you want to verify that all is well with the ISO you just downloaded,
get a CRC checking utility and check the ISO against the following checksums.

Signatures of the ISO file:
MD5 hash: e7f0a439e1e61d57ebf3c4f89e2f96d7
SHA1 hash: d1e7eaeb9893200c80e8a4902f2b012f3ff3eef6

After you get it installed, please install the Feedback tool and set it so
your bug reports are public. Directions are as follows.

To do this make sure you have the latest Beta Client. (Install by using the
icon on your desktop after you install.) In the client go to the Options
link on the left hand side of the window and select Enable Advanced Tracking
Options. Before you send your report, on the finish page make sure you select
Public down towards the bottom of the window and then send your report off.
I'll monitor this group and then if you have questions about your feedback
leave them here and I or one of the other Tech Testers can review your feedback
in Connect.

If you have any other questions post them here and I will be glad to do the
best I can to help you solve your problems.

Hello Buddha,

The Pre-RC1 build does not come in a 64 bit edition. You'll have to wait
for RC1 for 64 bit.

I followed that link but there seems to be nowhere to register for a
product key, do I use the old key I have for beta 2?
Thanks

Hello Beck,

Yes. Use the same key that you used for Beta 2.

THANK YOU!

Hello Paula,

Go to http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html download the tool
from the bottom of the page. Then open the tool copy the MD5 hash from my
earlier post and then select the file that you downloaded and then click on
Check and it will verify the file for you.

Tom,

I am in the Friends and Family Beta, and have lost my original DVD. How can
I find out what my product key is? (If it is even possible)

Hello Darrin,

I would try contacting (e-mail address removed) or if the beta is run through
Microsoft Connect (connect.microsoft.com) I would go to the Connect site
and see if there are any contacts listed.

Your best bet would be to try (e-mail address removed)

Tom,

I am unable to connect to webistes in pre-RC1. The Network and Sharing
Center says that I am connected to the internet. I can also see all of my
network computers and access their shares. I can connect to the internet
through W2K on the same computer (dual boot with Vista).

Please let me know if you can help,

Matt

Tom,

I am unable to connect to webistes (however I can get onto a few, hp.com;
asus.com; and dell.com) using IE7 in the pre-RC1 version of Vista. The
Network and Sharing Center says that I am connected to the internet. I can
also view and access shares on other network computers. I can also connect to
the internet in W2K on the same computer and have no problems (dual boot with
Vista).

Please let me know if you can help,

Hello Matt,

What type of internet connection are you using? Also, what is the make and
model of your router that you are going thru?

I have set the Beta Client as you said for Public to send in a report. When
I click Finish, I get this error:
There was an unhandled error trying to load your Passport ticket.
The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship
for the SSL/TLS secure channel.

It then have a link below it to go to find out to go about it. When I go to
it, it wants to register. I did register and then says I don't belong to
anything and to see what is available to sign up for. I look thru the list
and don't see anything about Vista.

How do I correct this to get my reports sent.

Thank You,
Ed.

Hello Ed,

Lets disable the Windows Firewall and see if you can send them. This is a
known issue and as far as I know there is not a workaround yet.
