What news server?
Try unchecking Log on using Secure Password Authentication.

Hi Michelle,
I too am having the same issues. I tried the
Tools/Accounts/News/Properties/Server and checked the box that says it
requires you to log on and then specify the username and password and I'm
still getting the 480 authentication error.

Which news server?
Have you checked with the server administrator to make sure you
have the correct username and password?

Do you have several mail accounts? Then scroll down to where you see News.

"480 authentication required"

Steve I was having the same problem but now have fixed that. My next problem
is I want to insert my signature in my posts in my posts and don't know how.
Any help would be appreciated.

This works great, but why do I have to go through this every time I switch
classes? I take a week off between classes because I have so many things
going on that I need a break, but it gets frustrating when I have to go
through this for every new class.

That depends on what your issue is.
If you need a UOP username and password, you get that from your college professor.

I did what you explained, now I get a popup message that wants me to log in
every time I click on a newsgroup or a newsgroup message. Help!

I tried what you suggested and I get a message to authenticate my user name
and password. This repeats for every newsgroup message so I cannot access
any newsgroups. Now what?

Thanks! It was unchecked but the damned program stopped asking for
verification. I don't know what happened but I certainly appreciate all of
your help!

Okay, Steve I have done this, now it keeps asking me to sign in which I do
and it asks me again and again and I never get anywhere

So what do I do?
