403 Forbidden error

M

Malcolm

I get the following message every time I try to access a
http: site (as opposed to a https: site)

403 Forbidden
Access denied by access control list.

I had this problem with IE 6 under ME, but it has continued
since upgrading to XP Pro. I have to us a third party
browser to access the web.

Please help someone!

I have to use a third party browser to access the web.

Then that may be deliberate on the part of the web site.
To test that idea you could try to find out what User Agent
string the third-party browser sends and then find a way
to replace the one which IE sends. I understand that there
are some proxy products which can do such conversions
but I don't know more about that approach.

To see the User Agent string which the application should
be getting from IE enter
javascript:navigator.userAgent
(Note the capital A in userAgent.)

Good luck
